Some people say certain musicians are ahead of their time.. I would agree in the case of Jeff Buckley, but not just his music. He was a very sensitive soul thrown into an apathetic world, and battled with different demons. His voice is described as being “angelic, yet haunted”, which sums him up pretty well. He died in 1997, here in Memphis, from drowning in the Mississippi River. If you wish to know more about him or his death, this is a good article: http://performingsongwriter.com/jeff-buckley/
“Hallelujah” was the first song I heard by him, in 2004, while tuning in to the first episode of The O.C. I fell in love with the soul he put into that song; by far the best rendition.. in my opinion. Which makes it the first song I’ll post. Every song he wrote had such deep beauty and pain, just begging to be understood. In one interview he said, “And what do I want people to get from the music? Whatever they want. Whatever you like. Somebody asked me what I wanted to do. I said I wanted to.. just to give back to it what it’s given me. And to meet all the other people that are doing it…just to be in the world, really.” Now let’s get to the music!!
In Part 2, I’ll discuss Jeff Buckley’s father, Tim Buckley, and his music. Enjoy!
As I promised. ❤

In light of how he died.. this song always gives me goosebumps. “I couldn’t escape from the nightmare, that sucked me in, and pulled me under.. pulled me under..”

The sensitivity he gives to this song.. takes you to an extra depth with his soul.

I thought for the last one, something special. “Mojo Pin” Live from his show in Chicago, in 1995. Lay back, and just feel..

Just a beautiful soul taken too early..
If you haven’t listened to his album Grace, from start to end, uninterrupted.. I urge you to do so. I like to get in the car and just drive, or go to the park and just sit and listen to the whole album. It’s such a meditative and meaningful hour for me. Thanks for listening. Much Love to All.
